Holy Cross Lutheran Church will host a “Blessing of the Animals” ceremony on October 3 at 10:00 AM on the church grounds on the corner of Lord and Storer Streets in Kennebunk. The community event invites pet owners and neighbors across the area to gather together for a short service dedicated to celebrating the companionship, joy, and unconditional love that animals bring to human lives.
In addition to the blessing ceremony, Holy Cross Lutheran Church is organizing a pet food donation drive during the event to aid local families in need. Attendees and community members are encouraged to bring donations of canned or dry cat and dog food. All collected items will be donated directly to Community Outreach Services to help restock local food pantries and support pets in the surrounding community. Cash donations are also appreciated.
To ensure a safe, peaceful, and welcoming environment for all human and animal guests, all attending animals must be safely secured in pet carriers/crates or kept on non-retractable leashes at all times.
“Our animals hold a truly unique and cherished place in our homes and hearts,” said Pastor Amy Dunckelman. “We welcome everyone in our community to join us on October 3 to honor our companion animals and extend our support to Community Outreach Services through this pet food drive.”
