All Saints Day in the ELCA is a joyful and hopeful celebration of the whole communion of saints—those who have died in Christ, those living now, and those yet to come—trusting that God has “knit [us] together in one communion in the mystical body” of Jesus. We remember loved ones who have died, give thanks for their witness, and pray for grace to follow them in lives of faith and commitment, resting in God’s promise that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38–39).
