YOUTH GROUP
On Sunday, January 2nd at 4:00, the annual progressive dinner and Yankee swap will be held. Bring a gift valued at $10 or less.

WOMEN OF THE BIBLE
The Bible Study that meets in Luther Hall from 8:30 to 9:30 on Wednesday morning has begun to study women of the Bible. We have completed our study of Mary, Mother of Jesus. We will next look at some of the other New Testament women. All are welcome, including men.

BREAD & SOUP
Please note the dates for Bread & Soup in the Lenten Season. They are February 17 and 24, March 3, 10 and 17. Look for more details in the February Crier and for sign up sheets on the white board in the Narthex. Church Life Committee

WOMEN’S GROUP
The next meeting of the Women’s Book Group will be on Wednesday, January 12th, from 7:00-8:30 p.m., at Lord Street House. We will be discussing the book "Light on Snow"  - by Anita Shreve. This is a diverse group of women of all ages and life circumstances and all are welcome to come. We will finish in time for moms to pick up kids from confirmation LOGOS. Contact Karen if you have any questions.

GRIEF AND LOSS SUPPORT GROUP
A support group on Grief and Loss is meeting the 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 3:00-4:00 in Luther Hall. It will meet again on January 11th and 25th. Anyone who is dealing with loss through death, divorce, illness, job, children leaving home, etc is welcome to attend. Through sharing, devotion and prayer, healing can and does take place. For more information speak with Donna Simmons or Karen.

SHARING THE JOY
This ministry of bringing joy to residents of local nursing homes will happen again at Bradford Common on Sunday, January 16th from 3:00 – 4:00. Sharing favorite hymns or oldies with the residents brings joy to all who participate. You do not have to know how to read music – most of it is familiar. Even if you don’t sing, your presence in talking with the residents is also important. Please join us. See Karen for further information.

Monthly Article from a Council Member
"Bach gave us God’s Word; Mozart gave us God’s Laughter; Beethoven gave us God’s Fire. God gave us music that we might pray without words."
I have to admit that I never thought we would find a new Music Director, or if we did, that we would find one so quickly! Now we have Warren, and our music program is developing quickly and in so many directions, and we can thank God for the growth and expansion of music at Holy Cross. I go to the first service, so rarely get to hear the choir, except I can hear their lovely voices practicing while I am in Sunday Adult Forum. They sound so wonderful that they deserve the support of a good organ!

The Worship Committee has been investigating organ options and with Warren’s able help and connections, we have found one that we feel would be a fine instrument for our congregation and choir and will work in our space. It also has the option for adding ranks of pipes in future, if we decide that is what we want and need. And it comes at a price almost within our reach, so we ask everyone to consider prayerfully what we will do when we are called upon to make this decision.

As a member of the Council, I also ask that we all pray for God’s direction for all the decisions we need to make as the people of God at the Annual Meeting and during the coming year. Our Heavenly Father has great plans for us and holds us in the palm of his hand. Peace, Catherine Morrissette

CHOIR NOTES
Hard to believe, with all the preparation and rehearsing the Advent and Christmas Season has come and gone in a flash. It was truly a remarkable and most memorable December. I would like to thank all of those who participated: The Logos Choirs (didn't they sound great), An incredible brass choir, the soloists and instrumentalists, and especially the Holy Cross Choir for their faithfulness and hard work to learn all the new music that we sang during the Christmas Season.  Thanks to all who made the Christmas Eve Services so wonderful. I will certainly remember my first Christmas here at Holy Cross and look forward to many more. Seems hard to believe but Lent is just around the corner................. Peace, Warren

ALTAR FLOWERS
I'm sure that you have noticed the flower arrangements on the altar every Sunday.  We need your help to
purchase these arrangements.  In order to make it as simple as possible just sign up on the White Board, and put your money in the offering plate. Any of you, who wish to purchase flowers to commemorate a special occasion, or to remember someone or something important, please sign up on the NEW sign up sheet on the White bulletin board in the Narthex. It will be there beginning in Advent. This will help to plan floral arrangements for the year.  We ask you put the donation in the offering plate with the note, ALTAR FLOWERS, so the money can be properly allocated.  At this time, the donation is $40 Should this change we will notify you either directly or through the bulletin. Thank you for your help. Worship Committee

Thank You!
I would like to thank everyone for the many cards, prayers, and expressions of best wished for a speedy recovery.
Sincerely, Anna J. Nelson
