Monthly Article from a Council Member "Bach gave us Gods Word; Mozart gave us Gods Laughter; Beethoven gave us Gods Fire. God gave us music that we might pray without words." I have to admit that I never thought we would find a new Music Director, or if we did, that we would find one so quickly! Now we have Warren, and our music program is developing quickly and in so many directions, and we can thank God for the growth and expansion of music at Holy Cross. I go to the first service, so rarely get to hear the choir, except I can hear their lovely voices practicing while I am in Sunday Adult Forum. They sound so wonderful that they deserve the support of a good organ!
The Worship Committee has been investigating organ options and with Warrens able help and connections, we have found one that we feel would be a fine instrument for our congregation and choir and will work in our space. It also has the option for adding ranks of pipes in future, if we decide that is what we want and need. And it comes at a price almost within our reach, so we ask everyone to consider prayerfully what we will do when we are called upon to make this decision.
As a member of the Council, I also ask that we all pray for Gods direction for all the decisions we need to make as the people of God at the Annual Meeting and during the coming year. Our Heavenly Father has great plans for us and holds us in the palm of his hand. Peace, Catherine Morrissette
CHOIR NOTES Hard to believe, with all the preparation and rehearsing the Advent and Christmas Season has come and gone in a flash. It was truly a remarkable and most memorable December. I would like to thank all of those who participated: The Logos Choirs (didn't they sound great), An incredible brass choir, the soloists and instrumentalists, and especially the Holy Cross Choir for their faithfulness and hard work to learn all the new music that we sang during the Christmas Season. Thanks to all who made the Christmas Eve Services so wonderful. I will certainly remember my first Christmas here at Holy Cross and look forward to many more. Seems hard to believe but Lent is just around the corner................. Peace, Warren
ALTAR FLOWERS I'm sure that you have noticed the flower arrangements on the altar every Sunday. We need your help to purchase these arrangements. In order to make it as simple as possible just sign up on the White Board, and put your money in the offering plate. Any of you, who wish to purchase flowers to commemorate a special occasion, or to remember someone or something important, please sign up on the NEW sign up sheet on the White bulletin board in the Narthex. It will be there beginning in Advent. This will help to plan floral arrangements for the year. We ask you put the donation in the offering plate with the note, ALTAR FLOWERS, so the money can be properly allocated. At this time, the donation is $40 Should this change we will notify you either directly or through the bulletin. Thank you for your help. Worship Committee
Thank You! I would like to thank everyone for the many cards, prayers, and expressions of best wished for a speedy recovery. Sincerely, Anna J. Nelson
