REFLECTIONS
FROM THE ASSOCIATE IN MINISTRY
As
the national and global economy continues to have an impact on many
people who are unemployed, losing homes, struggling to find food, the
Social Concerns Committee decided that it was important to have
another Ton of Food drive this year, beginning on February 14th
through Easter. In addition, the congregation continues to provide
free monthly meals to anyone in our community - a bean supper on the
first Saturday of the month and a Friendship lunch on the second
Monday. Quarterly fellowship dinners and mid week Lenten suppers are
also welcoming of anyone who needs a meal. Jesus spoke often about
the poor and hungry, calling his followers to feed and provide for
them. It was central to his teachings about living out the faith. I
hope that you will consider participating in this ministry of feeding
the hungry in our communities. Whether that means bringing food for
the food pantry or soup or bread to a meal, preparing, serving or
cleaning up, donating money, or being in fellowship with our guests,
we appreciate all of the ways in which you help those in our
community who are struggling in difficult times. May you be fed with
the joy that comes from serving others. Karen
